These days, all new cars come with some form of air conditioning or climate control. These systems use a special gas to cool the air which in turn helps control the temperature within the vehicle. The system also dehumidifies and cleans the air.  At PJS Autos we offer to carry out a visual inspection of your air conditioning system and can let you know when it is due a re-charge, a service or if there is a fault.

Over a period of time your vehicle's air conditioning system can lose gas and can even become contaminated. In addition to this, filters gradually become saturated which can cause the system to become inefficient, noisy, smelly or fail completely.
For this reason air conditioning units should be regularly serviced in a similar manner to other vehicle parts and it is recommended this is done every 24 months whether they have been heavily used or not.  Once serviced it can make a noticeable difference to your vehicle, with results such as;

• Improved system efficiency
• The removal of potentially harmful bacteria
• Reducing screen de-misting times
• Inhibiting the recirculation of dust and pollutant particles

Given its numerous system components, the modern car air conditioning system presents significant scope for faults. When investigating a fault with your car’s air conditioning system, we will carry out a range of tests and checks including physical and electrical system integrity testing. Upon confirming the fault(s) we will provide a report and present a recommendation going forward. If possible we will of course perform all repairs in house.

​All vehicles are different, not just in size, but they all have different systems. At PJS Autos our prices start from £49.99, but please feel free to pop in and give us a call and we will be more than happy to give you the exact cost.

How often should I have my air conditioning serviced?

​The recommended interval for having your car’s air conditioning system services is every 2 years.

​do i need to use my air conditioning all year around I.e. in winter months?

Many people believe that air conditioning is only to cool the air in the car during the Summer months, but this is incorrect. There are many benefits to using your Air Conditioning all year round;

• Air conditioning system seals and components are lubricated as the working fluid (refrigerant) moves through the air conditioning system carrying special lubricating oil. If your car air conditioning is not used, this will not happen and seals can deteriorate
• The air conditioning “refrigeration cycle” removes moisture from the air helping to keep your car dry – especially useful for de-misting on cold days
• Your car air conditioning system cleans cabin air
